Logline: Hitting on someone else's girlfriend at a hedonistic party leads to a dangerous confrontation.

I swithered whether this sumptuous short really deserved five stars as it's one of those stories following rich young teenagers larging it up and carrying on without a care in the world so is clearly unidentifiable to the likes of me. But, well, it does look good and that extra star goes solely to the costume design department who did really well.

Cleverly themed and titled, having all the characters dressed up as animals during a drink, drug and sex fuelled blowout certainly makes for great symbolism and visual metaphors. Ben-Ryan Davies takes the lead role as the doe-eyed lad dressed as a zebra who quite fancies the girl dressed up as a unicorn (ah, the unobtainable creature of myth) and this upsets her boy'f, the lion. Basically, its a lot of slow-mo partying, a lot of un-hurried walking about and a bit of a fight at the end. Davies plays the part well as do all the other cast members but none of them look particularly stretched as the dialogue is a bit uninteresting.

With high production values, this not only looks great on screen but sounds fab as well. Contemporary music is well chosen to suit the young target audience and brings almost a music video feel to the shoot. Listen out for all the interwoven animal sounds in the audio too. The internal shots are matched with an equally cinematic style to the external ones so this is definitely one for the large screen.

It's a standard story but done with a visual twist and the locations/props/makeup and costume guys have all made this unoriginal plot into an original one. The conclusion itself, is actually well done. Some comedy finally comes into it and is used to diffuse what looks like a potentially serious moment. All in all, competent filmmaking, stylistically interesting and well performed.

Best Bit: Cool costumes.

Worst Bit: A lot of time spent on scenes where nothing much is happening.

Final thought: Pick your Halloween costume now!
